Meet Inky: Kraken’s First Onchain Consumer App

Trading onchain usually feels like work. Inky makes it feel like play.

Built by the team behind Kraken, Inky is a mobile app designed for onchain trading. It lets users discover and trade tokens by swiping, tapping, and scrolling through a sleek interface that feels more like TikTok than MetaMask. Through a seamless cross-chain experience, Inky allows users to swap any token in seconds directly from their pocket.

From onboarding with social logins to embedded wallets and network abstraction, Inky is designed to reduce the friction traditionally associated with onchain interaction. All onchain, all under the hood.

At the heart of this frictionless experience is Dynamic.

Expanding the Kraken Ecosystem

Kraken was founded in 2011, and has grown to be the trusted platform for millions of clients across the world. It has an arsenal of apps for different client use cases, including newly launched Inky, which enables users to seamlessly explore the onchain universe.

Inky wasn’t built to be just another trading app. It was built to reimagine what it feels like to interact with crypto from the ground up—stripping away the headaches that normally come with onchain activity, such as wallet setup and network selection.

Instead, users simply open the app and swipe through trending tokens or tap to trade. Everything runs onchain in the background, but to the user it feels like a social app. That level of simplicity didn’t come easy. It requires thoughtful infrastructure, fast iteration, and the right partner.

According to Tertius Nel, the product manager for Inky:

We wanted something that just works. That means no seed phrases, no chain switching, and no waiting. You tap a token, you buy it. That’s what we built, and Dynamic helped make it all possible.

Why Kraken Chose to Build Inky with Dynamic

From the start, the Inky team knew they needed the right partner to handle wallet infrastructure. They explored several vendors and briefly considered building a solution internally.

What they were looking for was a provider that could keep pace with their rapid development and deliver a smooth experience that didn’t compromise on security. After evaluating their options, Dynamic emerged as the clear choice. It offered the right combination of technical depth, flexibility, and support to help bring Inky to life without compromise.

Dynamic stood out for four main reasons:

  1. Security that met Kraken’s standards. Kraken operates at the highest level of security. Most wallet providers didn’t meet their bar, either relying on unsplit private keys or Shamir Secret Sharing that lacked the robustness Kraken required. Dynamic’s TSS-MPC approach offered no single point of failure, while Dynamic’s team worked hand-in-hand with Kraken to meet extensive security reviews.
  2. Chain, wallet, and gas abstraction. Inky wanted users to trade across their favorite chains without worrying about gas, wallets, or bridges. To do that, they needed a wallet provider with broad chain support, intuitive onboarding via social logins, and native account abstraction. Dynamic checked every box to help make that experience possible.
  3. A true partner, not just a provider. Beyond infrastructure, Dynamic offered hands-on collaboration and around-the-clock white-glove treatment. Through feedback loops and shared learnings from other teams in the ecosystem, Inky was able to avoid common pitfalls and ship. It felt less like vendor support and more like joining a community.
  4. Fast time to market without the heavy lift. Building wallet infrastructure from scratch would have required significant time, cost, and complexity. With Dynamic’s SDK and plug-and-play tooling, the Inky team was able to move quickly and launch a production-ready product in a fraction of the time and cost.

According to Nel:

To have built the wallet infrastructure for Inky in-house, we would’ve needed additional time and extra resources. Dynamic gave us the tech we needed and the support we didn’t expect so that we could ship on time.

What’s Next: New Features and a Deeper Onchain Footprint

In the coming weeks and months, there are a lot of exciting additions coming to Inky, leaning deeper into simplified, consumer-friendly trading experiences. But Inky is just the latest step in Kraken’s onchain strategy.

Kraken has a more expansive vision for how people send, spend, and store value—a vision that aligns closely with Dynamic’s mission of making crypto experiences seamless, secure, and intuitive.

Builders like Kraken and Dynamic are engineering the kind of crypto future users have been waiting for.
